How fucking beautiful is he?

40 years ago today Tim Curry did his first performance as Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

I don’t know why, but I’m awfully emotional.

It’s just that this all happened by a twist of fate it seems. Richard taking that leap of faith and suggesting his ideas to Jim Sharman. The fact that Britt Ekland just happened to go see a show she’d heard about simply through word of mouth and told Lou Adler to bring it to LA. (Lou Adler was also responsible for the idea the film and produced it). The way that Richard O’Brien was walking on Tim Curry’s street, ran into him and told him to audition for his show. The fact that Tim Deegan decided to put the film on the midnight circuit after it bombed at the box office. The fact that Dori Hartley decided to dress up as her favorite obsession and play a key part in the midnight madness. And the fact that here we all are, 40 years later, still madly celebrating that wonderful show and its incredible team of players. Cheers, everyone. 40 years and seemingly stronger than ever.

Think of this as a little 40th birthday present. My absolute favorite, and quite rare, photo from the original London production of The Rocky Horror Show. Here is Rayner Bourton, Tim, Belinda Sinclair & Christopher Malcom during the Floor Show scene. Pretty brilliant. This picture was a gift to me and I cherish it.

It was 40 years ago today. A little rock n’ roll musical written by out-of-work actor, Richard O’Brien, premiered at the 63-seat theatre, The Royal Court Theatre upstairs. Young actors Tim Curry, Julie Covington, Chris Malcom, Richard O’Brien, Patricia Quinn, Rayner Bourton, Nell Campbell & Paddy O’Hagan made up the original cast. 15 months later, filming began for the film version of the hit musical which would become the longest running theatrical release of all time and the greatest and most well known cult film in history.

Happy birthday, Rocky!

Officially an alumnus of my high school. My graduation was wonderful and I got a chance to perform Lets Stay Together by Al Green with the band at our after party.

A while back, I think you made a "collection" video? Could you reblog it or maybe post it on YouTube, I'm really interested in seeing it.

Actually, I didn’t end up filming that! I know I always talked about it, but I still really want to do it! It would be very long but sometimes I forget all of the memorabilia that I have. I’ll look into doing that! :)

Thank you to Marie Scuderi for sending me the original portfolio that holds these photos. I love them!
These were taken at the 2nd Rocky Horror Convention in New York.

“Tim deliberately made his makeup look awful in the play. So he was a little disappointed when Pierre La Roche made him look so perfect. Because he did. He looked stunning. But it wasn’t Tim’s vision” - Patricia Quinn
